PSR Puglia 2014-2020 Measure 16 Cooperation - Sub-measure 16.2* "Support for pilot projects and the development of new products, practices, processes and technologies"

ICARUS Project: The First Laboratory Visit

On March 2, 2023, the first laboratory visit of the ICARUS project took place, funded under the Puglia Rural Development Program 2014-2020 - Measure 16.2. The event was held at the Post-Harvest Machinery and Systems Laboratory of the University of Foggia - Department of DAFNE and addressed a very interesting topic: "High-Value-Added Products: The Example of Artichoke."

In the heart of the laboratory
The project, which aims to improve the overall competitiveness of the artichoke supply chain in Puglia by strengthening various aspects along the entire chain, involves the development of new products in the IV and V range. It was precisely these new products that were discussed by Professor Maria Luisa Amodio, the project's scientific manager, during the event.

These are high-value-added products, ready for use, and in the case of artichoke, it means having a product that has already been trimmed, washed, and cut, freeing the consumer from the burdensome task of these operations, which often discourage consumption.

During the event, it was possible to visit the Post-Harvest Machinery and Systems Laboratory and receive updates on the available equipment and potential Research and Development activities to support local companies.
